TIFF Bell Lightbox theatre's "Books on Film Club" runs from Feb 7-June 27, and they'll be screening Adaptation as part of the programme. HUZZAH. You can probably guess what the general idea is, but I will helpfully spell it out for you: they'll be screening film adaptations of books (Lolita is in there, as is Mansfield Park, The English Patient, Double Indemnity, Breakfast at Tiffany's...), and each screening's preceeded by a live introductory lecture from a scholar or critic.
First cab off the rank: Adaptation on Feb 7. (The lecturer is Linda Hutcheon, author of The Politics of Postmodernism and A Theory of Adaptation.)
More details and the full schedule are here.
Thanks to Julie for the heads up!
