You might remember Carl told us about a lecture he'd be giving on Charlie, at the American Independent Cinema conference in Liverpool. He dropped me a note to let us know that he delivered the lecture earlier this week and it went over really well. It's called "Charlie Kaufman and the contradictions raised by ‘Hollywood Independent' authorship."
I had a look at the PowerPoint presentation that accompanied the paper, and it was pretty amusing in parts -- it includes illustrations of a bobble-headed Charlie, for one thing.
Carl couldn't send the paper itself, since he might be getting it published.
...notable film academics, Janet Staiger and Peter Kramer were particularly enthusiastic about my wider examination of the discourses surrounding authorship and notions of 'independent spirit'.
Good job, Carl!
