Another in the long line of screenplays being touted as "Kaufmanesque": The Beaver, by first-timer Kyle Killen. The script topped 2008's black list of Most Popular Unproduced Screenplays, as voted by Hollywood types. Steve Carell and Jim Carrey were attached at different points, but now Mel Gibson is apparently in talks to play the lead. Hmm. Jodie Foster's on board, too. It's a "comedy about a man who believes the hand puppet that never leaves his wrist is real."
