If you're up to speed on your Michel Gondry projects (I'm not up to speed on ANYTHING EVER, though I can recommend a cool new band called "The Beatles"), you might know one future project is The We and the I. Three reasons you should care:
- it'll be directed by Michel Gondry,
- the script was written by Paul Proch and Jeff Grimshaw.
- it'll be shooting in Spring. Spring's nice.
If you've been around BCK long enough, you know Paul is a long-time friend of Charlie's - they wrote a bunch of stuff together in the 1980s (some of which you can find on BCK, all of it totally bananas), and Paul did all of the artwork that appears in Eternal Sunshine - Jim Carrey's paintings and drawings and stuff. Here's something worth reading, by Jeff, about Paul; Charlie's in there too.
Michel plans to film it using kids from a school in the Bronx, and tell the story of a bus ride home at the end of school:
It's to explore the phenomenon of people, how different they are in groups and large numbers, and how they become more interesting and complex when they are in smaller groups. As they leave the school and do the journey to the last stop, the kids go off the bus gradually. You've got 35 and they end up with two. You feel the dynamic changing. (Source)
