How about some actual news, eh? Like old times. All right, let's do it. It'll get me in a better mood after all the dramas.
Inside screenwriter Kaufman's Mind. (Boy, where do they come up with these clever headlines?) Nothing particularly new in this interview with CK, NOT THAT I HATE HIM FOR IT, no sir. Eternal talk, disappointment over Confessions (which I'll finally get to see after next week), romantic comedies disillusioned Charlie, etc. One thing of note, this comment about the untitled horror project: "I'm trying to make a movie that's scary, but not using the conventions of scary movies. I don't have any interest in trying to copy a formula."
Want more? Okay. But be warned: like the first article, there's nothing especially new in these others. The weird voice of a generation. "I think a lot about why am I me. And why am I not this person. And why am I not happy with me. What that's about?" Ha.
Send in the clones. Charlie talks about the way he thinks he's portrayed by journalists, his similarities to several of his characters, and Eternal.
Last thing. Remember not so long ago a journalist mentioned that Charlie was a big Woody Allen fan? And I expressed scepticism? I have it on very good authority that he IS a fan. Which is nothing more than an interesting bit of biographical trivia until you add the fact that someone once emailed me about Zelig's listing on the internet movie database. (Zelig being an Allen film.) If you look at the credits there, a Charles Kaufman evidently worked on the movie as a Production Assistant. Coincidence? Error?
Yay, feels good to make a normal update again. But before I let go of the frustration entirely, can I just say that Roadshow Australia can bite me? Before Eternal was released out here, I emailed several Aussie film distributors to find out who would be distributing the movie when it hit our shores. I was hoping to run a contest similar to the one I did for Texas, except in my own country... or to assist in any other way they saw fit. Doing something for the fans out here would've been cool. Every distributor replied to me except one: Roadshow. Guess who distributed Eternal in Australia?
