If you've read an early draft of the Synecdoche script, you'll know there's a minor storyline involving a dog-flattening accident, and that the flat dog (named Squishy) becomes a pet to one of the main characters. If you've seen the movie, you'll know this particular storyline was cut from the finished product. In a couple of interviews, Charlie mentioned that they did shoot that story, but ended up cutting it when they needed to streamline the film. But he also said the dog can still be seen once or twice. Now we have photographic evidence of his appearance and disappearance, if you missed it on a first viewing.

You know, for a squished dog, he's looking pretty good. Good for you, Squishy! Don't let 'em keep you down!
