Chanel4.com have a good wrap-up of everything that's been going on with Synecdoche, New York, beginning with the announcement of the project in October '03 (when Spike Jonze was planning on directing it), and finishing with the end of filming last month. Well worth reading for those not up to speed with how the project's been progressing; if you're already up to speed, you might want to read it for the warm tingly feeling that reminiscing gives you. From Channel4, some stuff I don't think we've mentioned here:
Cinematographer Frederick Elmes, who shot Wild At Heart, The Ice Storm and Broken Flowers came on board, while the task of editing (always a challenge in a Kaufman reality-bender) lies with Robert Frazen (Smokin' Aces). Production design is by Mark Friedberg, who has previously handled the heightened realities of such films as Far From Heaven, The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou and Across The Universe.
Those guys haven't worked with Kaufman previously, so it'll be very cool to see the results. I still have a premonition this isn't going to look or feel much like any Charlie film we've seen before.
