Soooo now it's all official-like: Synecdoche will be in competition at Cannes. As will a bunch of films we don't care about.
The only first-time director in the Competition lineup this year is highly regarded screenwriter Charlie Kaufman with his “Synecdoche, New York,” starring Philip Seymour Hoffman as a theater director. (Source)
And here's an official Press Kit from Cannes, in handy PDF format.
Michel Gondry's on the list, too, alongside Bong Joon-ho and Leos Carax, with Tokyo! Which apparently is "an out-there three-part fantasy omnibus."
Thanks to Tim, Jean-Philippe and Jeremy.
I think I speak for most of us when I quote famed philosopher, Daffy Duck: woohoo!
