Adam points out that Sony Classics have Synecdoche listed as being in theatres on October 24. Which might mean Charlie hasn't had to edit the Cannes version much, given the short span of time it's been since Sony bought the flick.
The film had its first LA screening last week, reports Patrick Goldstein, who questions the wisdom of giving the movie a title that some folks have trouble pronouncing. Says Sony Classics' chief Tom Bernard:
"We're completely happy with the title... The whole idea is to brand it as a Charlie Kaufman film. So if it's an issue with anyone, people can just say it's the Charlie Kaufman movie. Maybe it will be a good thing. If people can't pronounce the title, that simply means they'll have to spend more time talking about it." (Source)
Also included with the article is a short video of people struggling to say "Synecdoche." We've seen that clip before.
Completely unrelated: Boomers getting flogged by Croatia? Not cool, people. NOT COOL. It's gonna be a long fortnight. Brian deserves better than this. (98% of BCK's audience: "Huh?")
