Oh internets, why must you be so slow today? BCK has a lot to get through, and you are certainly not helping.
Charlie was at NYU the other day, as was Zack who brings forth a detailed report, which I shall condense like so:
- Zack was 7th in line for Tuesday night's screening, and waited there for six hours. Good Lord. That should tell you something about thekind of line we're talking about. And the dedication of the 6 people who beat him there. I would not wait that long for anything. Even Miley Cyrus tickets.
- On the film itself: "All I can say is that it's hard to describe. I haven't read any of the advance reviews (was trying to keep myself fresh and unspoiled) so I'm probably repeating what a lot of people have already said..." Which is true - Zack confirms everything we've been hearing so far. The film is dark, depressing, abstract, heavily layered, and he wants to see it again, largely because he isn't sure what to think about it.
- "Charlie himself was pretty much what I expected: he did a half-hour of Q&A during which he seemed a little uncomfortable or tired at times but kept up a snarky sense of humor and skillfully got around the bullshit questions a lot of students were asking."
- Charlie also said he'd like to direct again. So hooray, he hasn't been totally scared off by the current state of indie cinema.
- CK stuck around to sign Synecdoche posters for the school, as well as Being John Malkovich nesting dolls. (Your humble BCK webmaster saw those dolls on eBay a while ago... I kinda wish I'd bought them because the price was pretty good.)
Behind the cut, some pics.
