Turns out there's an extension for Google Chrome, niftily named "Eternal Sunshine." Here's the description:
This extension removes friends from view on Facebook pages without unfriending them.
Although Facebook has a "hide" feature, it only affects items in the news feed. "Hidden users" still appear in profile updates, profile photo updates, suggested albums, friend finder suggestions, etc.
Eternal Sunshine is a more complete hide. It's not perfect yet, but it gets rid of the most prevalent Facebook content, including:
- Stream updates
- Profile updates
- Profile photo updates
- Photo page photo albums
- Sidebar suggested photo albums
- Chat list
- Frequent friends on chat list
- User profile friends list
But you know why I'm really here? I'm in Australia, see. And Australia's been all over the news lately, see, cos of the floods and all? Now, the floods were not in my neighbourhood. They weren't even in my state. And they're pretty much over now, except for the post-flood clean-up and probably a telethon. But still. I'm here to say: how many of you emailed to ask "Hey, Mick, are you okay? I hope you aren't flooded. I hope all of your worldly possessions were not swept away. That would suck. I hope you have not drowned, despite all that we hear about the superior swimming skills of Australians. Please tell me you are not dead."
ZERO.
That is how many of you voiced concern over my possible flood adventures.
Pah!
