The IFP/New York's Gotham Awards are going down on December 1. Making onstage appearances will be Charlie, Michel Gondry, Jim Carrey, Kate Winslet and other people we care less about. More info, and the official site. That news comes from Kate the Great's clemato, as does word that Eternal recently won the Explore Award at the "Gent Film Festival" (Belgium).

*sigh* Fighting a head cold... must... press... on...

Now some reasons for Aussies to dislike Roadshow Australia. Or whoever the hell determines DVD release dates. The Eternal Region 4 disc, like Anna Nicole Smith's proximity to sanity (or my own - just ask the plethora of people who fall conspicuously silent for months on end after receiving a communique from me...), keeps getting further and further away. It was earlier pencilled in for an August release... then September... then October. Right now websites have the release date listed as either December 2004 or February 2005. This week I emailed Roadshow for the official word. The official word is this:

Hi Michael
There is a single disc version being released in December for the rental market , A 2 disc version will be released in February for the retail market , I hope this clears things up for you.

RENTAL MARKET? Screw that. Two-disc set, yay. But February, boo. I don't know who sets the DVD release dates, but they really ought to have bowel surgery performed on them with a sharp stick in the woods.

PS. The bowel surgery thing is possibly a joke. Don't get offended if you're the DVD scheduler guy, or someone who has actually had bowel surgery.
