G'mornin'. Today, two articles for you crazy cats, both courtesy of clemato and her amazing technicolor dreamscanner. Not only that, but a mesmerising DVD menu screen as well. Still my beating heart. First, the articles.
Charlie Kaufman and Michel Gondry: an Interview (Independent Film Quarterly -- the issue with Norma Jean on the cover) Quote of note:
Gondry: I think we have good discussions and a lot [of] stuff in common as well as big differences. We don't compromise often.
Kaufman: We have good fights because of that.
Gondry: But I beat him up because he's tiny.
Kaufman: What?
Gondry: Because you're tiny.
Kaufman: I think I could take you Michel, and I can't say that about too many people, but I think I could take you.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (Empire UK, Nov. 2004 -- "truly the best magazine for film," says clemato, so take that) That one's a DVD review followed by a short interview with Michel. Quote of note:
Empire: This is another mind-bending Charlie Kaufman script. What did you think when you first read it?"
Gondry: Bastard.
If you have a hankering for a sneaky-peek at a menu from the upcoming Eternal Special Edition DVD, hanker no more. That's from clemato, too. She runs Kate the Great, you know.
And remember, kids: you wouldn't worry so much about what people thought of you, if you knew how seldom they did.
