Another great rave for Eternal Sunshine. I remember when the script surfaced, a few really negative reviews popped up claiming it was gimmicky and the characters were no good. I thought I might be a dumbass because it's my fave CK screenplay. But after those almost everything that followed (including this one) has hailed it as Kaufman's best or close to it.
And since reviews have been so swell, here's a mixed one: wagging a finger at Gondry and leaving the cinema perplexed but basically happy.
Michel Gondry discusses his five favourite films. When Human Nature came out they asked Charlie to discuss his own top five.
And now it's time to put your thinking caps on, cos the next two are pretty deep.
First up a piece from the NY Times discussing the philosophies behind Eternal Sunshine and a few other romantic comedies. And you thought they were all about Meg Ryan faking orgasms. Thanks to Roy, who also sent in the Top 5 Gondry article.
Also from the NYT, The Quest to Forget takes a look at the way our brain filters memories and the bioethics behind messing with them. Very interesting stuff, sent in by Eben. Don't forget, you need to be subscribed to the Times to view their stuff. But it's free and doesn't result in spam ahoy.
