Meanwhile, Dan has been looking out for Eternal Sunshine spots.
Eternal Sunshine's commercial aired on FOX recently. It was a numbed down version of the new movie trailer and only lasted about 15 seconds. This was two weeks ago. In movie theaters in Rhode Island, the trailer has been shown many times, most often followed by the trailer for the new Ben Stiller movie. Connecticut hasn't seen a good number of these trailers, but while I was in Rhode Island and I saw the trailer in a theater, I heard many mixed reactions. For the most part, there was a lot of silence and some people had lost interest. I think this is because they saw Jim Carrey's name and thought it was a typical Carrey movie.
Bah to them.
Hold the bus, here's an update:
I just saw another TV spot for Eternal Sunshine, which aired at 8:53 PM ET. It was on the FOX network during an airing of American Idol. The trailer was amazing; much better than the original TV trailer. It includes a lot more scenes that weren't in the first draft, including a first look at the disintegration of memories, which looks really good. It's going to be an amazing movie.
