Winslet on TV, and at NYU

robix informs me that Spotless TV spots have begun airing in the US. He forgets where he saw one. He thinks maybe Bravo. But I'll bet it was a kinky porn channel that he doesn't want to admit watching. Wherever it was, mayhap the TV spots will pop up online somewhere.

Marty Rubenstein, who wishes to remain anonymous and will henceforth be called Gertrude Winkel, dropped me an email to let me know he/she caught an advanced screening of Spotless. For this we both loathe and admire him. Or her.

It was a Lincoln Film Society (a.k.a the NY Film Festival) Donor Screening.

I was nervous because I am always disappointed by films that I have high expectations for, and I have loved everything Charlie has written, plus the original trailer was amazing (ELO's Mr. Blue Sky moved me) so the movie was pretty built up for me.

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I was not disappointed. The film was nothing short of incredible. Yet again, CK has blown me away with his genius. The complexity of the movie's conceptual framework and its insight into the human condition are mind-meltingly remarkable and fresh. In other words: no one else could have written this movie. Other than that, everyone in the film was great (even Kirsten Dunst!) and Michel Gondry's direction was excellent.

Lesson: if you like your brain enough to not want it melted, don't see Eternal Sunshine.
