Dan tells me that if you grab a June ‘05 Esquire (Ewan McGregor on the cover) and flip to the article about Brad Pitt being too aesthetically pleasing for the good of his own career, you'll find a passage that reads like so:
[In reference to Pitt's next endeavor Chad Schmidt] - Set in the late 80's, it reportedly follows the plight of Chad Smith (Brad Pitt), whose attempts to break into the movies are foiled by his uncanny resembelance to rising young star Brad Pitt (Brad Pitt). Whether this meta premise can without Charlie Kaufman behind it is anybody's guess, but the very notion of Chad Schmidt - goofball loser rather than strapping icon - gives me renewed hope.
G'night.
